Making Veggie Soup

The girls and I had such fun together today.   The veggies we got at the farmer's market this morning went into our veggie soup for dinner.  With some homemade kefir rolls on the side...this was soooooo yummy.  It's proof that children will eat anything if they get to help making it.  (The soup contained: tomatoes, leeks, garlic, carrots, potatoes, celery and wax beans.)  We finished the meal with blueberries & sugar covered with milk.  So yummy.

How fun! My little helpers aren't quite so neat but one day I envision us chopping veggies together. :-)

What a healthy meal! I love it.

This was such fun. We went to the farmer's market again today. It has quickly become our morning ritual. The girls are sad that they must wait until Monday to do it again. (Too busy Sunday mornings:p)

Tonight's dinner: Pan Fried Perch (battered with rice flour)
Baked Potatoes
Fresh Green Beans/Wax Beans & Broccoli
Dessert: Baked Peaches over Vanilla Ice Cream!

I think that's what I love the most...teaching them how to see what's in season...coming up with ideas for the day and watching them get excited about cooking!

This reminds me of many European countries where they go to the market and get their food fresh everyday! Then they come home and make the meal. I think life becomes a little more enjoyable that way!!

It's so great that you are teaching your girls to cook! It's something that will stay with them forever.
