Today's weather...

was the perfect excuse to finish my library book.  I started it last night before bed and was thrilled that this was a great author!  You never know when you take out a book if it's going to be good or if you are going to close it early not caring how it ends.

I sat in my oversized red chair for several hours and read...paused for a snack (took pic when I saw how inviting the setting looked:D) and then read some more.  I loved this book.  A little suspense, three deaths without a lot of gory details, and a budding romance you hope to have take off.  Great characters and a lovely setting make this a mystery winner in my book.  And with only 212 pages, it was a very quick read.  ;)

All this prompted me to get to work finishing the mystery I started writing a couple months ago.  I'm only on chapter thirteen and I have at least 100 pages to write to finish it.  Winter is the best time to write while we are all trapped inside, but I find I do my best in Spring or Fall when I can go for a morning walk and come in refreshed.  Ahhh....excuses, exuses.  I'm off to write.  (((HUGS)))

If you like mysteries...give Agatha Raisin and the Case of the Curious Curate written by: M.C. Beaton a read.  :D  I don't think you will be disappointed.

Homemade...

... entrance cover.  Adam noticed a lot of cold air coming in under our front door yesterday.  I told him that I thought I could take care of that today.  I got out a scrap of fabric and some thick cotton.  Took me all of 15 minutes...if that...to make. :)  I love useful, easy things we can make at home.

Also, for those who don't know, I started a new food blog.  Yes...another food blog.  :D  But this one is everything from bread, cooked dinners, baked goodies to raw food ideas!

I just made a new batch of cookies from my Martha Stewart cookie book and will post the pictures and comments about them on that blog.

If you would like to check it out: www.shelshelssimplekitchen.blogspot.com   click here. :)  Have a great day!  Much love ya'll.

Grandpa's 60th Birthday!

We all met at Pizza Hut to celebrate Grandpa's 60th Birthday.

{Dad and Mom I snapped the picture at the entrance for you to see.  It's that photo of Papa Caron as a boy on the hockey team. :D  He's on the bottom row...far left.  I say, "Hi, Papa!" every time we enter and, "Bye Papa!" when we leave. :p  Thought you'd like to see that.}

We all had a wonderful meal and laughed a lot.  Good times.  Happy Birthday Dad Conn!  Oh...and the picture of Adam and I...I took it of both of us leaning in together at the table and I don't think the flash went off.  :p  Oops!

Current Crafty Project

Andrea asked in her latest email how my crocheting was going and I thought I'd share a pic.  It's turning out beautiful! :D

It's a Peruvian 100% Merino Wool in a deep purple...almost black color.  The flash worked great and you can see all the purple in it.  Love this color and the feel of this yarn.

It started as a shawl, but I've decided it will become a sweater.  I'm looking forward to completing the project sometime next week and will share another photo then.  Much love ya'll!

Raiders on the Big Screen

When Adam found out the Roxy was having a midnight showing of Raiders, we made an evening event of it. :)  We picked up Reba and Travis, venturing out into the freezing cold...to experience a classic...on the Big Screen! :D

It was such fun and ended with us all being exhausted...laughing...and arriving home after 2:30 am.  Good times & great memories shared.

Dancing Again

Sometimes, in life, things we love are put away for long seasons.  For me...that was dancing.

I grew up dancing...tap, ballet, jazz.  I took gymnastics, did summer theater in our town, but mostly...everything came back to tap...it was my favorite.

It ended.  For a very long time.

Monday of this week I started a part-time job at a local dance studio, as a receptionist (only 9 hours a week).  It will pay for Alex's ballet lessons, Sam's Jazz lessons and my Tap & Hip-Hop lessons. :D

I LOVE THIS.  I love the job.  I love the extra time the girls and I spend each night exercising.  I love that everything that once jiggled is starting to get solid again...LOL.

This is a picture of my first pair of tap shoes in 23 years!  They were new when I got them 4 days ago...and very broken in now. :p

PS...Dad...our kitchen floor now looks exactly like yours did many years ago.  Scuffed and used.  :D  But Adam doesn't mind anymore than you did.  Thank you for the years of dance in my youth!  It's come in very handy now.

Alex is Ten!!!

Alex is ten now! :)  Adam and I have been watching home videos of our girls from birth on lately and are absolutely amazed at how fast time has flown by and how quickly our girls are growing up.
Happy Birthday little one.

Happy New Year!!!

The New Years Eve talent show was fun!  Sammie was the only one of us to perform.   She danced with the drama group.  She was great!  They all were.

Happy New Year Everyone! :)  Much love.
