Rose Bushes

I purchased four rose bushes from Big Lots a week ago.  One red, one pink, one white and the last yellow.  They were nothing but sticks.   I hoped to plant them soon outside and was going to follow all the directions about cutting this back and nipping that to ensure that they grow healthy.

Well.  After sitting there on my kitchen counter, they began to grow!  No soil...no extra water...in their store packaging. :O

Now I'm faced with a dilemma.  The packaging says they can last through the frost if the soil is so high around the juncture point in the plant.  Do I dare?  Should I play it safe and plant them indoors waiting until it warms more and then move them outside.  This second option, although obviously safer is more expensive...and twice the work. :p  We know how I love that.  Not.  But how long can they last now that they are growing in their original packing?

I'm putting this on the blog for gardening advice as I am a total novice! :D  Please pipe in with your ideas and knowledge it is greatly appreciated.

Spring Organizing

With Spring upon us, I am in an organizing kind of mood.  I have lots of unfinished crochet projects in my closet from over the winter.  Instead of leaving them in separate plastic bags at the bottom of my closet, I opted for a large lined basket.  I also found four matching baskets that were square to organize the two upper shelves in our closet. Now the closet looks neat and tidy from top to bottom. ;)

Our girls got their new eye glasses today.  {Sammie got her hair cut just last week as well. :)}  They are so cute, had to share a pic.

Student of the Month Award

This morning...Adam, Alex & I (along with two other families) met at the office at 7:30 am to watch our children receive Student of the Month Awards.

One 7th grader and two 8th graders are chosen by the teachers based on the children's character.

Sammie was chosen this month and will have her name engraved on a plaque that is hung on the wall at her Junior High.  She has also received a paper certificate and our family picture will be in the paper.
We were so glad that this happened so early in the morning and that Adam could be there too.
(***This is a surprise award and I found it funny that the day before this Sammie was wearing her pearl earring, dress and pumps.  I didn't dare suggest she dress up...or she would have asked what for. ) :p

New Cut

My long curly locks are gone.  :)  I just needed a change.
I decided that since it was time for another perm...and I just couldn't, my hair was too damaged, it was time to get back to healthy hair.

I'm also going grey really quickly and want to enjoy the natural brown color while I still have it. ;)

Sleepy Girls

As Adam, Sam & I cleaned out the big fish tank Sunday morning...yuck... I found the youngest two members of the family snuggling.  Callie was just laying there (Alex had to lift her arm to prove to me she wasn't holding her against her will) and looked up surprised when I walked in.  Had to share a pic.

***As you can tell by the resent posting, I'm feeling worlds better.  Worlds!  I don't have full movement back and I'm still in pain, but nothing I can't handle. ;)  Thanks for the prayers!***

Mini-Cape

Ok, at it again.  Before I hurt my neck, I finished this mini-cape, but have been waiting to post pics.  The tie is in the back and it rests from the upper shoulder area down to my elbows.  It will be perfect to add an extra layer of warmth when walking our local trail this Spring! :D  Another cool feature is that if I cinch the top tighter... Sammie can wear it... even tighter and little Alex can wear it too!
I had a very interesting time trying to keep Callie off of it whenever I would lay it down as it is made from Baby Llama wool and apparently...she loves the stuff!
